            Two copies of a photograph likely depicting a group of individuals gathered during a reception celebrating the opening of a new local Legion Hall that took place following the outdoor investiture ceremony at which Major John Gartshore Martin received the Distinguished Service Order (DSO). From left to right, the individuals pictured are Jessie Gartshore Martin; Margaret Alexander, Countess Alexander of Tunis; Harold Alexander, 1st Earl Alexander of Tunis and 17th Governor General of Canada; Gerald E.             File consists of one receipt, in French, for work performed by an enslaved Black female named Maria on a chain gang in New Orleans in 1825. Translation reads "Wages for negress on the chain: The city treasury will pay to Mr. D. Fitch the sum of 11 piastre and 50 cents for forty six days of work by his negress Maria, employed by the public works from August 9 to October 3." The document is signed by David Fitch and Precend Lament [?] and is dated at New Orleans, Oct. 3, 1825.

            Attached to the receipt is what appears to be a clipping from the vendor catalogue which listed the item for sale. It reads:
            "174. NEGRO CHAIN GANG LABOR RECEIPT. Printed document, in French, signed, one page, oblong small quarto. Nouvelle-Orleans, 1825. Interesting if not gruesome document. Receipt for labor in the chain gang performed by a negress."

            Material created or accumulated by Andrew Telegdi during his tenure as a Member of Parliament related to the referendum on Quebec sovereignty held on October 30, 1995. The material documents the opinions of some constituents as well as Telegdi’s political involvement in the matter including his attendance at the Unity Rally in Montreal, Quebec on October 27, 1995, and his efforts to help constituents attend the rally. The file also contains a letter written by Telegdi in November 1995 likely sent to participants in the Unity Rally thanking them for their support. In addition, the material documents his participation on various committees promoting a united Canada following the referendum such as the United Canada Committee and the Commitment Canada Committee. Records include correspondence, press clippings, news releases, and other textual material.
