File consists of one piece of correspondence from Albert Breithaupt's brother Louis, writing more or less "in loco parentis." Louis J. was 15 years older than Albert and had assumed his role as head of the family at the age of 21 on the death of his father in 1880.
Transcription: "Berlin, Nov. 1/89. Dear Albert,/Yours 29th Oct / recd. & fully notes. / Am glad to note / that you are / progressing favorably / at school -- even / if you have turned / black smith. / Am pleased / with your / report this time / therewith return it / duly signed. / On Sunday I under- / stand you are, or / will be, 19 years of / age.
