General note
52-3412_001 appeared on Page 13 of the Monday, March 24, 1952 edition of the newspaper as part of the article: "Chesley Tree Fastest Growing on Continent".
General note
Photo caption from published version of 52-3412_001: "SETS GROWTH RECORD - A poplar tree cut in Chesley this winter had a remarkable growth, attaining a diameter of 25 inches in 14 years. The rate of four times as fast as that of the southern pine previously considered the fastest growing tree. Contrasted to the growth in the poplar in the above photo is a crosscut of Scotch pine - each cut at 14 years. W. A. G. Thurston, zone forester, shows the measurement. Thumb tacks indicate the year rings."
