The American Eugenics Party (AEP) was a white supremacist organization based in the United States that aimed to improve the genetic quality of the population. Founded in Los Angeles, California in the 1960s, the AEP held meetings in Long Beach and Santa Barbara. Members of the party included Samuel Andrisani, primary spokesperson and Education Manager; John S. Vanders, Public Relations Manager; and Robert Henderon, Chairman of the Race Relations Committee.
The AEP’s mission was founded on and motivated by eugenics and scientific racism. Key tenets of their platform include the deportation of all racialized Americans, the prohibition of miscegenation, maintaining unity among all white racists, and sterilizing lower income, incarcerated, or disabled white Americans.

Publication released by the American Eugenics Party (AEP) on the dangers of white defective segregationists to civilization. The publication uses scientific racism to explain why “white defectives” are defective. The AEP identifies “white defective segregationists” as white people who “vote for leftists”, refuse to deport non-white Americans, and oppose birth control. The party suggests that they are the cause of the decline of current and past civilizations and cannot be "fixed" by propaganda and voting alone. Instead, the AEP suggests the use of “Eugenic Control” measures such as the sterilization of incarcerated white people and pregnant women on welfare. The AEP concludes that white defective segregationists and “stock abusing white defective segregationists”, white racists who are antisemitic and believe in Nordicism, need to be “denounced” and that the party welcomes support from the “non-whites” who support racial segregation.

Materials in this collection express racist, sexist and ableist views rooted in eugenics, the belief that the genetic makeup of the human population can be improved by limiting the ability of people deemed inferior from reproducing. There are derogatory statements and depictions throughout these publications that may be deeply upsetting and unsettling. These materials are being shared and maintained as they were created in keeping with Special Collections & Archives’ approach to language in archival descriptions, which prioritizes speaking openly about and clearly identifying problematic, harmful, and otherwise offensive records in the department’s holdings. This approach, while potentially upsetting, allows for the critical assessment and questioning of historical material by contemporary researchers.
