General note
42-77_001 and a negative missing from the envelope appeared on page 3 of the Saturday, February 7, 1942 edition of the paper as part of the article "THIS IS THE H.M.S. WARSPITE AT VICTORIA PARK PAVILION."
General note
Photo caption from published version of 42-77_001: "This is how the interior of the pavilion at Victoria Park looks since the building was taken over by the Sea Cadets. The structure has been remodeled to resemble the quarter deck of the British battle ship Warspite. At top the officers of the Cadets are standing in front of the aft-gun turrets and the ship's bell. They are, left to right: Sub-Lieut. Albert Pearson, bandmaster; Surgeon-Lieut. G.F. Watson; Rev. H.B. Smith, Catholic ship-chaplain; Warrant Instructor William Paris; Sub-Lieut A.C. Menzies; Commanding Officer Earl Putnam; Sub-Lieut. Tods Rumpel; Sub-Lieut J.R. Coghill, paymaster; Rev. L.A. Buckley, Protestant ship-chaplain; Warrant Assistant Instructor Kenneth S. Archer. The lower photo [missing from envelope] showing the Cadets, looks toward the stern of the warship. A convoy of ships is painted in an ocean scene around the walls of the pavilion."
