    Biographical history

    Joseph E. Schneider (1810-1880) and wife Sarah Shantz (1816-1881) had ten children together, nine of whom survived into adulthood and were raised on the original property settled by Joseph Schneider. The children were: Isaac (1834-1835), Barbara (1837-1923), David Bechtel (1840-1928), Samuel Bechtel (1842-1912), Maria (1844-1925), Louisa (1847-1932), Lydia Shantz (1849-1930), Magdelena (1851-1880), Sarah (1854-1887) and Hannah (1857-1920).
