This series includes material created or accumulated by Andrew Telegdi during his appointment as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister with special emphasis on Aboriginal Affairs that began on January 30, 2004 and lasted until June 27, 2004. The material reflects Telegdi’s efforts to assist the Prime Minister in carrying out their duties in the House of Commons, support key government initiatives and engage with Indigenous communities. Records include correspondence, news releases, material from conferences and roundtable discussions, a copy of the Coast Salish News, and other textual items.

Andrew Telegdi was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister with special emphasis on Aboriginal Affairs by Paul Martin, then Prime Minister of Canada.
General note
On July 19, 2004, Paul Martin offered Telegdi the position of Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister with special emphasis on Aboriginal Affairs and Science and Technology. Telegdi declined the offer because he felt he could not accept the role until issues regarding the citizenship revocation process were resolved. Paul Martin offered to hold the appointment until the government reviewed its position on citizenship revocation. At the end of the review, Telegdi could reconsider his decision to accept the position of Parliamentary Secretary. Telegdi did not accept the position before the 2006 Canadian federal election. The offer was withdrawn following the election as the Conservative Party formed a majority government and Stephen Harper was elected Prime Minister.
