Note from Dr. Susan Thorne: "This daughter is referred to by name as Marth[a] Magdalena in Anthes's letter of July 13, 1869. (See the postscript note in the margin of the last page). Possibly she did not survive childhood; the Waterloo Township historical record for Jacob Anthes does not list a daughter named Martha among his children."
