          A scrapbook containing press clippings and a photograph of the British royal family. The press clippings feature articles regarding King George V’s Silver Jubilee, the death of King George V, the activities of King Edward VIII, as well as the children Princess Elizabeth and Princess Margaret. One photograph features King George VI and Queen Elizabeth possibly taken during the 1939 royal tour of Canada. Also includes a map of lakes in Ontario and a photograph of Lady Agnew of Lochnaw an oil on canvas portrait of Gertrude Agnew, the wife of Sir Andrew Agnew, 9th Baronet completed by John Singer Sargent in 1892.

          File consists of material relating to the pollution of rivers in England and Wales, and mainly includes reports on biological surveys of rivers by Hynes and other researchers. Also present are some ms. field notes and maps. Rivers surveyed are: River Lea (or Lee) (1946-1954), River Mole (1963), River Derwent (1952-1957), River Dee (1952-1959), River Lune (1961), and Backgill Burn and Smallhope Burn (1960-1963). The surveys were conducted at the request of various town councils and clerks as well as mining and chemical comapnies.

Also present are some ms. field notes (summaries), maps, correspondence, a graph relating to the toxicity of DDT, a photograph of smelt specimen, and tables of data relating to a Kenyan rivers. Rivers and other bodies of water surveyed are:

          • River Lea (or Lee) (1952-1954);
          • River Dee (1938-1939, 1948-1950, 1955-1958);
          • River Penk and tributaries (1956-1960);
          • Great Ouse (1955-1959);
          • River Flit (1958);
          • Rivers Ouzel and Flit (1958);

          • Peakshole Water, Bradwell Brook, and River Noe (1955),
          • Chard Reservoir (1952), and
          • streams flowing into Rostherne Mere (1964).

          The surveys were conducted at the request of various local government departments and committees, river boards, and chemical and paper companies.

          Consists of a typescript brief prepared by the Grand River Conservation Commission to demonstrate to federal and provincial authorities the need for proposed multi-purpose reservoirs and other control work the Grand River Watershed.

          Includes four blackline maps of proposed reservoir catchment areas in Ayr and West Montrose, Ont. and flood stage maps of the cities of Brantford, Paris and Galt, Ont., prepared by J.M. Tomlinson & Associates Ltd, Consulting Engineers, January, 1964. Also present are photographs of floodwaters in the Grand River Watershed at Brantford, Galt and Paris, March 20-22,1948.
