Photo caption from published version of 45-178_001: " GOING, GOING, GONE - The towering chimney of the old Dare candy factory, Weber and Breithaupt Streets, yesterday was torn down by the Harry Wunder Construction Co. The skeleton of the once-large building has been standing since Feb. 16, 1943, when it was destroyed by fire. Workmen chipped away at the outer corners of the tall smokestack and felled it like a tree. The chimney landed squarely within the walls of the building and only a few pieces of mortar and brick fell on the road. Police kept traffic and spectators a safe distance while the operation was in progress."
