General note
Photos missing from envelope appeared on Page 13 of the Saturday, October 22, 1949 edition of the newspaper as part of the photo feature "Life in Milking Parlor - Starring 'Calamity'".
General note
Photo caption from two missing photos: "CALL TO BREAKFAST - "By crackey, the cows sure have it swell" in a modern dairy barn like C.P. (Pete) Bechtel's at Bridgeport. They get up in the morning, walk out to the yard for a stretch and line up for breakfast like patrons in a barber shop. A door opens and in walks "Calamity," left [no suitable substitute], into an empty stall and proceeds to enjoy breakfast. At right [see 49-1212_003 for closest version], Mahon Shantz attaches the milking machine - without bending over - and goes to milk cows in the other two "milking parlor" stalls."
General note
Caption for other two photos in paper, without suitable substitutes, not transcribed.
