History
John Russell Hewetson was a Canadian realtor. Born July 21, 1927 in Brampton, Ontario he was one of four children born to Rosa Breithaupt and Alfred Russell Hewetson. He spent the later part of his childhood in Scarborough, Ontario where his mother and step-father, Spencer Clark, founded the The Guild of All Arts in 1932. Following studies at Crescent School, Upper Canada College, and Jarvis Collegiate, Hewetson graduated from McMaster University in 1951 with a BA in economics. After working with Canadian General Electric in Peterborough, Ontaro, he returned to Scarborough where he served as general manager of the Guild Inn. In addition to contributing to the development of the Guildwood Village residentail community, he founded the real estate firm J.R. Hewetson,Limited. Hewetson died at home on December 11, 2011.
