Lois Claxton is a Canadian librarian and university administrator who served as secretary at the University of Waterloo from 1991 to 2011. Claxton obtained a B.A. (English and French) from Waterloo before persuing a B.L.S. and M.L.S. at the University of Toronto. Prior to joining the University of Waterloo Libraries in 1979 as Head of Government Publications, she served as Public Services Librarian with what is today the Waterloo Regional Public Library and as Head Library at the Resources Economic Library at the Department of Energy, Mines and Resources. Claxton ended her career at in 2011 relocating to Ottawa to work with former Waterloo president David Johnston in his capacity as Governor General of Canada.
